Dredging by JD Services

We undertake all types of dredging projects using our purpose built pump dredging system, or using standard dredging techniques with excavators. Excavators can working from the bank, or from barges to extend access. All dredging is assessed and environmental advice given during an inspection appointment prior to works taking place.

We operate a purpose built pump dredging system which has proved to be a very efficient way of dredging hard to access areas of fine silt. The pump equipment comprises an in-house designed cutter-head, industrial pump and floatation equipment used for suction dredging; this performs exceptionally well in tight, hard to access areas such as marinas and tight mooring plots; working by agitating the silt deposits found on the water bed of marinas, then sucking these deposits from the bed through the cutter head. The out-flow of the dredging pipe can be deposited into an out flowing tide, depositing the silt back where it came from or deposited into selected areas and the silt filtered before the water runs back in to the water system. This operation makes for land nutrient improvements in most cases. Our pump dredging system is best carried out from one of our works boats fitted with a hydraulic crane.

We also undertake standard dredging with the use of excavators. Excavators are used from either the bank side or from pontoon barges to gain dredging access. Although, the best method for access is via the water to prevent the risk of river banks becoming unstable when working.

All dredging is assessed and environmental advice given during an inspection appointment prior to works taking place. Tailored advice is always given upon site inspection.
